Washed Shetland

Here is the Shetland fleece after two cold soaks and one hot with soap (Life Tree dish soap).

Combed with a flicker brush.

Yarn spun on Spindewood 1.25oz spindle.

  1. Where did you get the info on cold water

  2. How long did you cold water soak it and did you use cold tap water or rain water?

  3. Keli, I soaked it in cold water for about an hour the first time and longer the second time. I admit I didn't keep very good records; I need to get a notebook for this.

I used tap water though I've heard rain water is better; I didn't happen to have any.

All my fiber prep information is from Ravelry on the "Fiber Prep" and other forums plus sometimes a referenced blog. Are you a member of Ravelry? You can go on there to the Forums page and search for fiber prep or cold water soak. It's amazing how much you can learn!
